Kris Dagger

The kris is a type of dagger from the island countries of South East Asia, which originated in Java. It consists of three parts, the blade (wilah), hilt (hulu) and sheath (warangka). It is considered a spiritual and ceremonial object as much as a weapon, with many having supernatural properties attributed to them. In Java, every man from the ages of 12 to 80 had to have a kris in his house, and could not go out without it in his belt. This kris is reputedly from Malaysia, where the legendary kris Taming Sari is still kept as part of the sultan's regalia. This kris has a polished wooden sheath and hilt, with a straight blade and a ring of gold filigree below the guard.
