Mining surveyor’s notebook, 1913

This notebook belonged to John Brownlie, a mining surveyor for Harry W Lewin & Co. of Glasgow, dated from 5 September to December 1913. Inside are a whole series of illustrations showing the workings at different mines in the Lanarkshire area. Mining surveyors were commissioned by owners to map out pits and provide accurate measurements on the areas mined.
