The Miner of Auchengeich by John McKenna, ARBS, 2009
The artist John McKenna was commissioned to create a sculpture as the centrepiece of a new memorial to the victims of the 1959 Auchengeich Colliery disaster, marking the 50th anniversary of the underground fire in which 47 men lost their lives.
This bust is based on the full-size statue and is on display at Summerlee Museum.
