The art collection comprises mostly of prints, paintings and drawings along with smaller holdings of applied art, for example pottery, glass and silverware. A number of the works have strong associations with North Lanarkshire, depicting historical views, portraits of local people or works illustrating aspects of daily life.

Highlights include a stunning 19th century oil painting of Gartsherrie Ironworks by C.R. Stanley, artworks by Ken Currie featuring industrial workers and a series of paintings depicting views of Kilsyth by local artist Alexander Gibson.
